Voice AI for Small Business: Calls, Notes and Customer Replies
On October 20, Mistral AI launched Voxtral 3, a set of tools that turn speech into text and text back into speech.
What is in the set
- Three tools that write down speech
- One that talks back with a voice
- A kit for building a voice assistant that works over phone lines and web calls
What it can do
It can label who said what. It can learn names and special words without extra training. It knows when a speaker has finished. Mistral says live speech turns into text with a delay of under half a second.
Languages
Writing down speech works in more than 50 languages. Voice replies work in more than 35. We could not confirm if Filipino or Cebuano are on the list.
Price
- $0.0035 to $0.008 per minute to write down speech
- $13 per million characters for the voice
- $0.04 to $0.08 per minute for the full voice assistant
Mistral says it makes fewer mistakes than a popular tool called Whisper on one multilingual test (4.0% against 14.9%). That is Mistral's own claim.
What this means for you
Think about the calls and voice notes in your business that could be written down for you: meeting notes, call logs, or taking bookings by voice. Test it on your own recordings first, especially if your customers speak Filipino or Cebuano.
